Cow – The Long Ride (2009) Cow is one of those bands that don’t seem to come from where they do. This sophisticated, literate style might be seen as pretty worldly wise for these quiet parts of Southern Australia. Describing it as country, even with an alt. doesn’t help much either. Has life experience has led them to this classy neo retro feel? There is an ache in the songs that can only come after experiencing life’s tricky turns & detours. To respond to Cow you probably need to have travelled some of that path yourself. Of course you could just float along with the chime & stride of this fine band but there’s much more beneath the surface of these songs of relationships, regrets & remembrances.
